Marketing and promoting

Hi all! At our recent Member's Forum on 12 May Kate Davis gave an excellent presentation on how Gold Coast City Council promote and market their e-resources.

We'd like to build on Kate's experience and hear from you what sort of promotion you've done and what's worked and what hasn't. We'll then put these ideas together into a document that will hopefully help libraries in promoting their e-resources.

Ideas included in Kate's presentation are:
  • Promoting using corporately branded promotional material, and promoting using themes and events that tie in with other events on the corporate calendar (e.g seniors week);
  • Promoting to staff as they are key to increasing usage eg. monthly online challenges, and regular training and mentoring programs that focus on awareness of products and their unique features;
  • Making it as easy as possible for customers to use online resources eg. providing multiple access points to aggregator databases, simplifying authentication, and producing simple and appropriate help sheets.
